| In certain circumstances it may be possible to arrange to be taken to a hospital appointment by the NHS non-emergency patient transport service, which uses ambulances and cars. If you think that you may be eligible, make sure that you ask either the hospital outpatient staff or the receptionist at your local surgery at the time of making your appointment. If you are not eligible they should be able to give you details of voluntary hospital transport services in your area. See also “Voluntary Car Services” in this section. People on low incomes may be entitled to help with the costs of travelling to hospital (see “Help with Health Costs” entry in Money Matters Section). |
