| The NHS non-emergency patient transport service uses ambulances and cars to assist patients who have been referred by their GP or consultant for medical reasons. Some voluntary organisations also provide ambulances for example to transport people between hospitals or from hospital to nursing homes. These include Buckinghamshire St John Ambulance and British Red Cross. |
