| There are so many different types of clubs and organisations that it is only possible here to give a brief outline of some of them. Some clubs may be able to offer help with transport. To find out more about the clubs in your area you could contact your local library (see Libraries section) or “Age Concern - Buckinghamshire” or your “District Council” (see Information, Advice and Advocacy section for contact details). |
| “Burnham Advice and Information Centre” holds a list of clubs in the Burnham area (see entry in Information, Advice and Advocacy section for contact details). Denham Medical Centre has a list of services for older people in Denham including clubs (Telephone 01895 832012 and ask for Janice Lee, Practice Manager). If there is an “Older People’s Action Group” in your area they may be able to advise you about local clubs (see entry in this section). |
| Day Care Centres |
| See “Adult Social Care Buckinghamshire County Council – Day Care” entry in Health and Social Care. |
| Drop in Centres |
| As the name suggests these are centres where you can just call in perhaps for a hot drink or snack or just to have a chat with someone. |
| Lunch Clubs |
| These are clubs where you can get a cooked midday meal at a reasonable price. |
| Social Clubs |
| There are many clubs where the emphasis is on meeting up socially. They all offer the opportunity to meet new friends or perhaps to become reacquainted with old ones. Many also offer a range of activities such as bingo and card games, crafts, guest speakers and occasional outings. Some groups may be just for men or just for women, others may be for people with a particular health problem or disability. |

| Special Interest Groups/Organisations |
| Whatever your interest there is likely to be a group somewhere that specialises in it whether it is flower arranging, wine appreciation, gardening or model railways to name but a few. |
