| There are various ways in which your local Council may be able to assist with housing repairs and maintenance issues. If you are in social housing you should contact your housing provider (who you pay your rent to).
If you are an owner-occupier or private tenant means tested Renovation Grants may be available from your local District Council to help with all or part of the cost of certain repairs and improvements to property. Home Repair Assistance Grants may be available for small-scale work. For private tenants, the Council has powers to require landlords to make certain provisions including major and minor repairs, provision of adequate bathroom and WC facilities and provision of adequate fire escapes. See also “Better Homes Better Health” entry in this section for information about the help that may be available to help you keep your house warm. People living in Wycombe, South Bucks and Chiltern can now access “Anchor Staying Put”, see entry in this section.
