Housing

District Councils
District Councils have traditionally provided housing to rent but there are some differences between them as to how they do this. Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils have appointed Housing Associations to act on their behalf as providers of social housing (see “Beacon Housing Association” entry in this section for South Bucks District Council area and “Paradigm Housing Group” entry for Chiltern District Council area). Wycombe District Council continues to manage its housing stock itself (see “District Councils” entry in Information, Advice and Advocacy section for contact details).
All District Councils can provide information and advice on a range of housing issues including the availability of sheltered housing, special needs accommodation and community call/alarm systems. District Councils can also offer advice on tenancy right issues between private landlords and tenants. Your District Council can also advise you about various grants that may be available to help you stay put in your own home. (see “Better Homes Better Health”, “Disabled Facilities Grant” and “Housing Repairs and Maintenance” entries in this section). For more information about “District Councils” and contact details see entry in Information, Advice and Advocacy section.
