| Free eye examinations are available if you are aged over 60. If you are housebound you may be eligible for a free home visit from an optician. To obtain a list of all local opticians including those who make home visits, contact either “NHS Direct” or “Buckinghamshire Primary Care Support Services” (see entries in this section). You should ask your optician if you may be eligible for help with the cost of glasses.
There are many specialist organisations to assist people with serious sight problems including “Royal National Institute for the Blind” (see Aids and Equipment section) and “Buckinghamshire Association for Blind and Partially Sighted People” (see next entry).
