Vehicles
If an abandoned vehicle is noticed, then contact the local district council who can make arrangements for the vehicle to be removed, and hence, reduce the risk of further problems associated with abandonment (see “District Council” entry in Information, Advice and Advocacy section).
Vehicle Crime
Did you know that a vehicle is broken into every 15 seconds? The police work in partnership with the District Councils and other agencies to help raise awareness of the things that motorists can do to protect their vehicles and their belongings from the attention of thieves. The Caught Red Handed campaign, launched by Sir Jackie Stewart in May 2003 is one example of partnership working. Don’t get caught out by leaving mobile phones, laptops, credit cards, cheque books, your Vehicle Registration documents, or private mail with your address on.
