Information, Advice & Advocacy

Age Concern - Buckinghamshire
Age Concern supports older people and their carers in a variety of ways. There is a free, confidential, independent advice and information service that can offer help with many matters including financial advice and welfare rights advice. There is also an Advocacy service whereby trained independent volunteers offer information and support to older people enabling them to make informed choices and assisting them to maximise the control they have over their own lives. Home visits may be possible by appointment. Within this service, there is specialist advocacy for people with mental health problems, advocacy in care homes and advocacy withing the ethnic communities in Bucks. Other services include local clubs, day centres and a befriending scheme which links volunteers with older people for friendship and support, IT for beginners courses and activity classes (tennis and pilates) for older people.
