Alarm schemes
Various alarm schemes are available. Usually a small pendant is worn around the neck or clipped to clothing. In the event of emergency the button on the pendant is pushed and this automatically sends a signal via your telephone line to the Control Centre who will summon help from a relative, friend, neighbour or from the emergency services.
There is a charge made for these schemes. In certain circumstances “Adult Social Care Buckinghamshire County Council” can help with the installation and line rental costs of a telephone and with the costs of an alarm if it is agreed that you are at risk without one (see entry in Health and Social Care for contact details). The “National Benevolent Fund for the Aged” can also assist with the cost of alarms in certain circumstances (see entry under “Holidays” in Leisure section for contact details).
